HOW CANNABIS CHANGED MY LIFE

Hi, I'm Andrea Meharg, Cannabis Educator and Coach. My life radically changed in just one year because of cannabis. Here's my story.

I started smoking cannabis when I was a teenager because it was fun and I didn't have to worry about hangovers. In my early 20s, I got away from it and didn't touch it again until recently.

In the meantime, I got a job I mostly loved, I got married, and had two beautiful boys. It was supposed to be the most rewarding time in my life. But it was awful. I became stressed, anxious and depressed. I gained a bunch of weight (then lost it, then gained it again). My to-do list was always a mile long and yet somehow, taking care of me never floated to the top. My husband and I were like ships passing in the night and I was never fully present when I was with my kids. I was on antidepressants, but so were many of my friends. I just thought it was all just part of the stressful life of being a 38-year-old working mom.

Then, in the fall of 2016, I broke down. I suddenly couldn't juggle all the balls I had up in the air, and I landed briefly in the hospital with what I was sure was a heart attack. I was, after all, nearly 100 pounds overweight and didn’t take care of myself anymore. As it turns out, I was experiencing an anxiety attack. I was told to go off work immediately and to "manage" my depression and anxiety, whatever that meant.

The first few months of stress leave were the worst. I slept a lot and wouldn't see anyone. I couldn't get the really dark thoughts to leave me alone. I was basically just existing. However, I was determined to get better. I went to therapy and to a social worker, I took mindfulness classes, meditated, read self-help books and took my medicine. I started to slowly climb out of the pit.

For Christmas that year, my mom gave me a (big!) bag of cannabis. She was sick of seeing me struggle to return to my old self. A long-time cannabis-consumer, she knew the power of the plant and thought it would help. She was right.

Immediately, cannabis allowed me to let go of my anxious thoughts, relieve my depression and focus in on what was important in my life. I got down on the floor and played with my boys and was able to get out of bed and function again. Over the course of several months, with the mind-opening help of cannabis, I began examining how I was living. It turns out that I wasn't content to live that way anymore and needed some big changes!

It excites the hell out of me to look at just some of the ways my life has transformed because of the transformational power of cannabis:

  • My depression and anxiety are no longer taking over my life.

  • I joined the Cannabis Coaching Institute and became a certified Cannabis Coach. (If this calls to you, use the code: revealcannabis for $300 off your tuition)

  • I realized I could dedicate myself to helping other people discover this amazing plant. As a Cannabis Educator, I now jump out of bed each morning excited to spread the word about the transformational power of cannabis.

  • I have deep relationships with my boys and look forward to spending time with them daily. Although I recently divorced my husband, having cannabis throughout the process made it less terrible.

That's my story. Less than a year after receiving a bag of weed as a gift, my life is almost unrecognizable. And now, it’s my mission to teach the world how cannabis can help them live a happier, healthier life.
